We all know that a crib or cot with a good mattress should of course not be missed. A solid commode with a rug cushion is of course also a very useful purchase, preferably one with a lot of storage space for all your care things. A closet for being able to store all those cute clothes is also a very useful item if you have enough space for that in the room.
On the website of the Consumer Association you can find a complete baby eviction list, of which 1,000 new parents surveyed have contributed to its composition. In this article we pay attention to things that you may not think about at the first moment, but which could still make a lot of sense to buy for the decoration of the baby room.
Tip 1: Lighting
A good lighting in the nursery is an absolute ‘must’. A good (and nice) ceiling lamp illuminates the room well at once to clean it for example. It is also very useful if you walk into the room with your baby and you want to have a well-lit view of everything with one arm movement.
Just as important is a light with muted light for when you need to be in the nursery at night, but you don’t want to wake your baby with a bright light. You can use a wall light or night light with a soft light.
Tip 2: Curtains
Darkening (rolling) curtains are recommended. In the beginning, your baby will sleep at many times, whether it’s light or dark. However, as your baby gets older, it will increasingly (have to) get used to a day-night rhythm. A darkening curtain can serve a good thing.
A baby will have less difficulty going to bed when it’s dark. Moreover, when it becomes dim or dark, your child makes the hormone melatonin, a substance that you can easily fall asleep with.
Tip 3: The baby monitor
If your baby is sleeping in another room and maybe on another floor in the (large) house, then the presence of a baby monitor in the nursery may be a soothing idea. Nowadays there are also baby monitors with camera with which you can not only hear your baby, but also see.
Tip 4: Laundry basket and diaper bucket
Place a laundry basket right next to the commode on the ground. This makes it extra easy to throw dirty garments in the basket during changing in one act. The purchase of a diaper bucket is certainly not necessary, but can still be very pleasant to be able to deposit immediately into the dirty diaper.
Tip 5: Storage options
If you have the space for it, you can put a lot of things in a nice closet. You can also hang shelves where you put beautiful storage boxes. Take a good look where you hang the shelves, of course there should be plenty (preferably spacious) running space between the furniture.

Tip 6: Not too full
Think carefully about what stuff you really need for the baby. A small nursery is soon too full. It is important that your baby can unwind in his or her room, so don’t worry too much.
